Wrapping up the Season

Writer's picture: Ellen RobinsonEllen Robinson

While the weather in Seattle reached nearly 60 degrees today, the arrival of darkness at 4:30 PM reminds us that it is November. The garlic is sprouting a few inches, some arugula plants have self seeded and still think it is warm enough to grow, but I cut back the raspberry canes and tucked in the cauliflower with some floating row cover to protect the through the winter (fingers crossed). A garden at home means I will be preparing a green bean casserole for Thanksgiving with veggies I have blanched and frozen and sharing pickles and preserves with friends as family as the gift giving season arrives.
